Asha Bhosle, who is a great singer of Indian music, feels that music is like a big river. Asha ji’s musical journey has been very long and unique, which started about 80 years ago. Speaking to PTI, she says, “I am 90 years old, but I can still stand on the stage and sing for three hours, and that makes me very happy.”
Asha ji is feeling very happy and excited before her upcoming program. Asha Bhosle’s musical journey started in 1943 with the song “Chala Chala Nav Bala” from the Marathi film ‘Majha Bal’. 80 years later, he has lent his distinctive voice to nearly 12,000 songs. She is now all set to please her fans again. He still has the same energy and enthusiasm. They consider music to be as important as breathing.
However, his musical journey was not always easy. Asha ji sang for many great actresses in her career, like Meena Kumari, Kajol and many more. And during this time, he also faced many challenges. Seeing a similarity between life and music, she says, “Just like we cannot live without breath, music is very important to me.” She also told that there were some moments in her life when she felt that she would not be able to move forward, but she refused to give up.
Asha ji has sung countless songs in her immense musical journey. Her songs include the peppy tracks ‘Piya Tu Ab To Aaja’ and ‘O Haseena Zulfon Wali’, the heart-touching ghazal ‘Dil Cheez Kya Hai’ and Indian traditional songs like ‘Tora Man Darpan Kehlae’.
Asha Bhosle’s voice is not limited to India only, but has resonated all over the world. Global music groups, such as The Black Eyed Peas, have also created their songs inspired by Asha ji’s songs. Asha Ji has also made her mark in the international music scene, and has worked with notables like Boy George, Stephen Lauscombe, and cricketer Brett Lee.
Even in 2020, when everything was changing in the digital age, Asha ji introduced herself on YouTube with the song ‘Main Hoon’, which was a tribute to spiritual guru Sri Ravi Shankar. He believes that music is an eternal journey that never ends, like a flowing river.
