Bollywood’s evergreen actress Mumtaz is living a very satisfied and happy life these days. She says casually, “I’m having the best time of my life. I sleep when I want, wake up when I want, and live in a city I love. What more could one want?”
Reminiscing about her time in films, she says, “When I was young, I used to work around the clock — running from one studio to another. Then, at the peak of my career, I got married and said goodbye to films so that I could become a mother. Now that my children are busy with their own lives, I have also got the opportunity to live my life on my own terms.”
never took anything to heart
Recently, regarding an old controversy, she was asked whether Shashi Kapoor had refused to become his heroine because of her ‘stunt queen’ image? On this, Mumtaz smiles and says, “I never paid attention to such negative things. I never held any grudge against anyone.”
She further recalls, “When I was new in the industry, Mehmood Sahab took me to Dilip Kumar Sahab for the film ‘Ram Aur Shyam’. Dilip Sahab looked at me and said, ‘What a beautiful girl! Why wouldn’t I want to work with her?’ This will tell you that I never thought about rejection. I always got what I wanted.”
Memories of working with Shashi Kapoor
Mumtaz has given many superhit films in her career and her pairing with Shashi Kapoor was also liked by the audience. She says, “I first worked with Shashi Kapoor in ‘Pyaar Kiye Jaa’. It was a very fun experience. Then many years later we came together in ‘Chor Machaye Shor’, which was my last film before marriage.”
She further says, “We both had a great time during the shooting of that film. Shashi was a very decent and positive thinking person. He had no jealousy or negativity in his mind towards anyone.”
Mumtaz’s attitude is the real reason for her beauty
Not just beauty or acting, Mumtaz’s life and way of thinking also make her different from others. Leaving the negative things behind, she is still full of positive energy. She has not only won the hearts of the audience, but has also lived an inspiring life — a life shaped by her own choices at every turn.
