New Delhi. Sharjeel Imam, accused in the alleged conspiracy case related to the riots in Delhi in the year 2020, has got a big relief from the Karkardooma Court. Giving relief to Sharjeel Imam, the court has granted interim bail of 10 days.
The court has granted him this bail to attend his brother’s wedding and take care of his ailing mother. During the hearing of the case, the defense told the court that the marriage of his brother is fixed in Sharjeel Imam’s family and his presence in the house is necessary. Besides, his mother’s health was also said to be bad. Considering the circumstances, the court decided to grant interim bail for 10 days to Sharjeel Imam.
Let us tell you that Delhi Police had arrested Sharjeel Imam from Jehanabad, Bihar on January 28, 2020 for allegedly giving inflammatory speeches at Jamia Millia Islamia and Aligarh Muslim University. He has since been in custody and was later booked under UAPA for his alleged role in the riots. He is accused of conspiring to commit large-scale violence in Delhi in February 2020. A case has been registered in this matter under UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act). Along with Sharjeel Imam, many other people are also accused of being conspirators in the same case. Earlier, Delhi High Court and Supreme Court had rejected Sharjeel’s bail plea.
Let us tell you, many people died in the riots in Delhi and more than 700 people were injured. The violence started during the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and NRC, where the situation went out of control at many places.
