Raipur. As part of the anti-Naxal operation in Chhattisgarh, Narayanpur Police and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) have recovered a large quantity of country-made weapons and explosive materials hidden in the forest in a joint operation. The recovered items also included a powerful 15 kg pressure cooker IED. The operation was conducted with the objective of maintaining peace in the declared “Naxal free areas” and effectively controlling residual Maoist activities through sustained territorial dominance and intensive combing operations. According to the police, based on credible intelligence, a joint search operation was launched on July 7. The operation was led by Narayanpur Superintendent of Police Robinson Gudiya and ITBP 53rd Battalion Commandant Sanjay Kumar.
ITBP personnel, a representative of Narayanpur Police and a five-member bomb disposal squad took part in the operation. The team conducted intensive search operations in the forests around Adsameta village and Adingpar camp.
During searches in the dense forests, security forces found a huge cache of weapons and explosives hidden by the Maoists.
The 15 kg pressure cooker IED recovered from the spot was safely defused by the bomb disposal squad through a controlled explosion following all safety standards.
One locally made rocket launcher, 16 indigenous 51 mm mortar shells, five indigenous 84 mm rocket launcher rounds, 10 indigenous 40×46 mm barrel grenade launcher rounds, eight .303 rifle cartridges and four tactical pouches were also recovered during the operation, officials said.
Security forces believe that this recovery will prove to be a major blow to Maoist activities in the area. After completing the operation, the joint security forces safely returned to Adingpar Camp.
Officials said the operations against Left Wing Extremism (LWE) in the area and intensive search operations will continue with full vigor to ensure lasting peace and security in the area.
This joint operation also reflects the strong coordination between the state police and central security forces to deal with the internal security challenges and keep the local people safe from the Naxalite threat.
