New Delhi. The war of words between Aam Aadmi Party and BJP has intensified in Delhi. In the matter of providing electricity connections to booked properties, Aam Aadmi Party made serious allegations against the government and said that the Rekha Gupta government is presenting the decision of Delhi High Court as its achievement. AAP leaders say that the public is being misled by deliberately hiding the court order. AAP state convenor Saurabh Bhardwaj claimed that on November 13, the Delhi High Court had ruled that electricity connection cannot be stopped merely on the basis of property being booked by the MCD. Electricity will be cut or stopped only when MCD is taking action to demolish or seal the property.
The court gave clear instructions to the discom not to stop the power supply at the booked property. AAP leaders allege that after this order, in the instructions issued by the Electricity Department on November 17, the CM office did not mention the name of the High Court and described the decision as ‘a decision taken after review by the government and consultation with the Law Department’.
On the basis of this document, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari and Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva congratulated Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and called it her achievement.
Saurabh Bhardwaj alleged that the present government has not only been stealing the credit for the work of the AAP government, but is now trying to take credit by claiming the court’s decision as its own.
