Regarding the case related to FIR No. 24/2018 related to Adarsh Credit Co-operative Society scam, Additional Advocate General Shiv Mangal Sharma has denied the allegations leveled against him by Leader of Opposition Tikaram Julie. The official response said that these allegations are completely baseless, misleading and devoid of facts, which appear to have been made without verification by any court record.
The Additional Advocate General has made it clear that whether in his capacity as Additional Advocate General or in any other capacity, he has never represented or counseled any of the accused in this case. The matter is currently pending in the Supreme Court, where he is appearing on behalf of the state government.
According to the official statement, he opposed the bail of the accused during the very first hearing in the Supreme Court, which makes it clear that he is continuously playing an active role in favor of the prosecution. Along with this, he also stressed on the Court to ensure that the interests of investors are protected and recovery of their funds is ensured, which reflects a responsible and victim-centric approach.
Considering the seriousness of the case, the state government has also appointed Additional Solicitor General to further strengthen the case, thereby strengthening the state’s case in the Supreme Court. A strong protest has also been lodged against the accused in the affidavit submitted by the Additional Advocate General.
The statement also said that such allegations are an attempt to target an important law officer, who is effectively opposing all efforts of the accused in the Supreme Court. In the end it was clarified that these allegations are not only factually incorrect but also affect the dignity of the judicial process. Public comment on cases before the Court should be based on facts and not on speculation or political motives.
