Chandigarh. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday rejected allegations of ‘disrespectful behaviour’ made by political opponents. He said that these allegations are part of ‘dirty politics’ being carried out to tarnish his image. In a video message posted on social media platform X, he said the controversy was being used as a political weapon to target him. He said that when they have nothing left to control, they take the help of religion to defame me. He also said that the purported video of desecration of pictures of Sikh Gurus was fake and accused the opposition of trying to defame him.
He alleged nexus between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiromani Akali Dal and Congress and said that they were using religion as a political weapon against him.
Mann clarified that for the last few days, my fake videos are being released as part of dirty politics. When they find no other way, they try to defame me by using religion. Neither my height nor my style of standing matches the person seen in the video. They are blaming me for making the video viral. However, people saw the video and I got many calls saying it was fake. We also got it tested in the forensic lab.
The Chief Minister said that the BJP has attacked the owners of the forensic lab. He alleged that BJP, Congress and Akali Dal have colluded in Punjab; He felt that after releasing the fake video, the issue of the video was going against him and people were calling it ‘dirty politics’.
Mann said that due to fear of FIR and torture, they are making the lab owners say that ‘we had taken money for the fake report’. The lab in which we got the test done was fake and the lab in which they got the test done is real? People know who is fake and who is real. I leave this decision to the people… I will continue to work like this. My pace for electricity, houses, hospitals and jobs will remain the same.
His statement has come when Haryana Police has registered an FIR in this case in Gurugram. Police are investigating the alleged deal of preparing a report for Rs 10 lakh related to the Chief Minister’s viral video controversy.
