Amritsar. There was a sensation in the area after the body of a 28-year-old youth was found in a motor room built in the fields in Jandiala Guru area of Amritsar district of Punjab. The deceased has been identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi, son of Kashmir Singh, resident of village Thothiya. The police have taken the body into their custody and sent it for post-mortem and have started investigating the matter. According to the information, Gurpreet Singh had gone to Jandiala Guru on his motorcycle for some personal work on the evening of July 13, but after that he did not return home. The family members searched for him for two days, but could not find him. On Wednesday morning, his body was recovered from a motor room built in the fields in front of Dana-Pani Dhaba in village Mallian near GT Road. Sukhwinder Kaur, mother of the deceased, who is the current Panchayat member of village Thothiya, said that Gurpreet used to work as a paint artist. According to him, he was under mental stress for some time and was also a drug addict.
Gurpreet leaves behind his wife and three daughters. According to the family, her youngest daughter was born just five days ago. The family is in deep shock over the death of the young man.
Local people present at the spot said that serious injury marks were visible on the head of the deceased. People have expressed apprehension that he may have been murdered with a sharp weapon. However, the police have not yet confirmed the murder.
Police say that the exact cause of death will be known only after the post mortem report comes. Investigating officer Harjinder Singh said that the body has been sent to Civil Hospital Amritsar for post-mortem. The police are examining the footage of CCTV cameras installed nearby and the investigation is being taken forward keeping in mind every aspect of the case.
Police officials say that if the post-mortem report or investigation finds evidence of murder or any criminal conspiracy, then further legal action will be taken under relevant sections.
At present, there is an atmosphere of discussion in the entire area regarding the incident and the police is busy investigating all possible aspects.
