Beirut. The second round of talks is going to be held between Israel and Lebanon under the mediation of America. Meanwhile, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has said that talks are going on to extend the ceasefire. Along with this, he warned that no party will be allowed to disrupt security measures or undermine stability. “Maintaining peace among citizens at this stage of our country’s history is a red line,” President Aoun said on social media platform Furthermore, President Joseph Aoun, during his reception at the “Parliamentary Committee for the Protection of Civilian Property and Prevention of Deliberate Destruction”, said that negotiations are ongoing to extend the ceasefire deadline and that I will leave no stone unturned to end the strange situation that currently exists in Lebanon.
The Lebanese President said, “In all the negotiations and reviews I am conducting, my biggest priority is to maintain the independence of all areas of Lebanon. The negotiations that are being prepared are based on a complete stop of Israeli attacks, Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanese areas, the return of prisoners, the deployment of troops on the international border and the beginning of rebuilding what was destroyed during this war.”
He said that the American support received from President Donald Trump, apart from the support received from brotherly and friendly countries, has given us an opportunity which we should not lose, because it may not be available again.
President Joseph Aoun said, “The return of displaced people to their villages is essential, especially because the people of the south, along with all Lebanese people, are tired of the wars and suffering over the past decades. The government will provide all facilities for this return to take place with dignity and pride.”
Let us tell you, after America’s mediation between Lebanon and Israel, a 10-day ceasefire came into effect on April 17. Foreign Secretary Marco Rubio led the US side in the first round of talks. At the same time, now the second round of talks is proposed on 23 April.
