In a major action, the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Gumla district of Jharkhand has arrested Chainpur police station in-charge red handed while taking bribe. The surprising thing is that the police station in-charge crossed the limits of demanding and taking bribe within just four days of taking charge. After this action there has been a stir in the entire district.

According to the information, the Chainpur police station in-charge was accused of demanding a bribe of Rs 30 thousand in return for helping in a case. The victim had complained about this to the ACB. After checking the veracity of the complaint, ACB laid a trap and as per the planned plan, caught the station in-charge red handed while taking bribe.

As soon as the ACB team took the bribe amount from the complainant, the police station in-charge arrested him on the spot. The bribe amount was recovered from the hand of the accused officer, which was confirmed to have chemical powder on it. After this, ACB completed the legal process and took the accused into custody.

This action has created panic in the police department also. Local people say that it is very shocking that such a complaint has come to light within a few days of the police station in-charge taking charge. People are seeing this as ACB’s strict action against corruption.

ACB officials say that no compromise will be made at any level in corruption cases. He made it clear that if any government officer or employee is found asking or taking bribe, strict legal action will be taken against him.

At present the arrested police station in-charge is being interrogated and other aspects related to the case are also being investigated. At the same time, after this incident, the responsibility of Chainpur police station can be handed over to some other officer under alternative arrangement.

This action is being considered as a big message against corruption in Gumla district, which is expected to strengthen the confidence of common people towards law and order and administration.
