Bengaluru,. In a major operation, Bengaluru Police has seized more than 35 kg of banned narcotics worth approximately Rs 5.70 crore. Along with this, the police have arrested 11 alleged drug smugglers in this case, which includes nine people from other states and two local residents. In an official statement issued on Tuesday, police said they seized 2 kg of MDMA, 1.767 kg of hydro ganja and 32.920 kg of ganja during the operation. Apart from this, the police also recovered Rs 5.90 lakh in cash, two iPhones and a two-wheeler from the accused. The operations were conducted under the jurisdiction of Vidyaranyapura, JB Nagar, Devanahalli and Hebbagodi police stations based on information received regarding sale of banned narcotics.
During police interrogation, the accused confessed that they had started selling drugs to earn easy money. They told investigators that they bought narcotics at low prices from suppliers in other states and sold them at much higher prices to the general public, including college students.
Police said efforts are on to trace and arrest the unknown suppliers who had provided the narcotics to the accused. The matter is being investigated from every possible aspect. At the same time, all the 11 accused were produced in the concerned courts and were sent to judicial custody.
According to the police statement, the operations were led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East) GK. Mithun Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Vikram Amte and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Electronics City) M Narayan.
Among the seized items, Vidyaranyapura police recovered 2 kg of MDMA, which is worth approximately Rs 4 crore. JB Nagar police seized 1.767 kg of hydro ganja, Rs 5.90 lakh in cash, two iPhones and a two-wheeler. The total value of the seized goods is estimated to be around Rs 1.37 crore.
Devanahalli police seized 16.920 kg of ganja worth approximately Rs 16.70 lakh, while Hebbagodi police recovered 16 kg of ganja worth approximately Rs 16 lakh, the statement said.
In another development, Bengaluru Police has arrested a domestic help for burglary at her employer’s house and recovered 262 grams of gold jewellery, 2.366 kg of silver biscuits and silver articles, Rs 65,000 in cash and five silk sarees. Its total price has been estimated at Rs 50 lakh.
The complainant, a resident of 5th block of Jaynagar, lodged a complaint at the police station on April 9. He told that he was suspicious of his domestic help, who was working in his house for about 18 years. Based on the complaint, a case of house theft was registered at Jaynagar police station.
During the investigation, the police detained the domestic help for questioning on June 22. During interrogation, he confessed to stealing gold jewellery, silver items, silver biscuits and cash from the house of the complainant. The accused was produced in the court and sent to four days police custody.
During continuous interrogation in police custody, the accused told that he had hidden the stolen gold ornaments, silver biscuits, silver items and cash in his house located in Purna Pragya Layout. Which was later recovered by the police.
