Sunny Deol is preparing to make a splash on the big screen with his upcoming film ‘Bantwara 1947’. **Sunny Deol’s three blockbuster films will be re-released**
PVR and INOX are re-releasing three blockbuster films made by Sunny Deol and director Rajkumar Santoshi – *Damini*, *Ghatak* and *Ghayal*. These films will be shown exclusively in theaters before the release of *Partition 1947*. This special screening will run for three weeks, starting with *Damini* on 24th July. After this, *Ghatak* will be re-released on 31st July and the series will end with the re-release of *Ghayal* on 7th August. These films are also a great preparation for Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi’s comeback film *Bantwara 1947*, which is going to be released in theaters on 14th August. The film was announced on 17 July on PVR INOX’s Instagram with the caption: “Action, emotion and a powerful story – Relive Deol and Santoshi’s memorable classic films on the big screen before watching *Partition 1947*.”
**All three re-released films have won many awards**
The thing to note is that these three films being re-released have not only been huge hits at the box office, but have also won many awards. Rajkumar Santoshi won the Filmfare Award for Best Director for *Damini*, while Sunny Deol won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for his powerful portrayal of lawyer Govind Srivastava. ‘Ghayal’ was Rajkumar Santoshi’s first film as a director and it became one of the biggest films of its time. Sunny Deol won the National Film Award (Special Jury Award) and the Filmfare Award for Best Actor for his performance. Apart from this, Santoshi received the National Film Award for ‘Best Popular Film Providing Complete Entertainment’ for this film.
When is ‘Partition 1947’ releasing?
Now, the hit pair of Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi are reuniting after years for ‘Bantwara 1947’. Made in collaboration with Aamir Khan Productions, this film is based on Asghar Wajahat’s famous play ‘Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya O Jamya E Nai’. Sunny Deol is playing the character of Sikandar Mirza in this, while Preity Zinta is making a comeback on the big screen with this film. The film also stars Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, Abhimanyu Singh and Karan Deol. Cinematography by Santosh Sivan and A.R. ‘Partition 1947’, with music by Rahman (with lyrics by Javed Akhtar), is scheduled to release in theaters on August 14.
