Patna, January 31 (). Bhojpur Police of Bihar has arrested three youths within 24 hours in connection with the murder of a 16-year-old intermediate student. The body of the deceased was found in a pit filled with water.
Addressing a press conference on Saturday, the SHO of Nawada police station said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the incident was the result of a love triangle and personal enmity.
The arrested accused have been identified as Badal Kumar (19), Adarsh Kumar (19), and Anish Kumar (19).
The deceased has been identified as Sunny Kumar Singh (16), son of Upendra Kumar Singh, who was a resident of Ekwana village of Ward-9 of Barhara police station area.
According to the police, Sunny’s body was found in a water-filled pit near Piprahiya bridge under Mofussil police station area on the outskirts of the city. There were many injury marks on his body.
Bhojpur police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.
Investigation revealed that Sunny’s cousin had a love affair with a girl. The girl also allegedly had a relationship with Badal Kumar.
When Sunny came to know about this on social media, she objected and allegedly argued with the girl. During this time there was a rift between the two.
Police allege that the girl later instigated Badal to commit murder.
According to the family of the deceased, Sunny had left home for a coaching class at around 10 am on Friday. While returning, he called his elder brother Mandeep and told him that some people had kidnapped him on a bike. Shortly after this his mobile phone got switched off.
When he did not return home, the family searched for him and later lodged a complaint at Nawada police station. The family alleged in the complaint that Badal was involved in Sunny’s kidnapping.
Subsequently, the police arrested Badal Kumar on Friday night.
During interrogation, Badal Kumar confessed to his crime, after which the police recovered Sunny’s body from the pit.
Further interrogation also led to the arrest of Adarsh and Aneesh, who were involved in the kidnapping and murder. Both of them were arrested on Saturday.
Police officials said that the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are likely to be made in this case.
