Bharatpur. There was chaos in Hatijar village of Halena police station area of the district late on Saturday evening when a minor fight between children in the fair turned into a violent confrontation between two families. Within no time, people gathered from both sides and started fighting fiercely with sticks. There was an atmosphere of shouting, stampede and tension on the spot.
About a dozen people have been seriously injured in the incident. On receiving the information, Halena police station along with its team reached the spot and with great difficulty pacified both the parties. The police have admitted the injured to Bharatpur RBM Hospital, where everyone is undergoing treatment. How did the controversy start?
According to the police, a traditional fair was organized in Hatijar village on Saturday. During this time, an argument broke out among the children regarding some game. The elders intervened in this small argument of the children and the matter escalated from abusive language to fighting. Within a short time, dozens of people from both sides came face to face with sticks.
Tension in the village, additional police deployed
Tension has spread in the village after the fight. To prevent any untoward incident, police have deployed additional personnel in Jabta village. The police station officer said that statements of both the parties are being taken and investigation into the matter has been started.
Police have said that the situation is currently under control, but the atmosphere in the village still remains tense.
Fear and resentment among locals
Some people of the village said that there was not enough police arrangement during the fair, due to which the fight increased. The villagers have demanded from the administration that security arrangements should be strengthened in events like fairs, so that such incidents do not happen in future.
