Pune . BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala on Friday targeted Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi. He alleged that the policies of Congress worsened the economic condition of the states and increased the tax burden on the public. Taking a dig at Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Khatkhat model’, Poonawalla told that before coming to power, big promises are made, like assurance of free electricity and Rs 1,500 to women, but after coming to power, economic crisis is created. He claimed that Himachal Pradesh has been burdened with huge debt and now taxes are being imposed on petrol, diesel, electricity, toilets, goods, fairs and even entry.
Accusing Congress of corruption, Poonawalla said that the party should change its name to ‘I Need Corruption and Commission’. He claimed that a huge scam of Rs 37,000 crore has come to light, in which contractors alleged that their due payments were being stopped because Congress ministers were demanding commission and bribes.
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla also alleged that a Congress minister from Karnataka had reportedly accepted that corruption cannot be stopped and it is his ‘birthright’. Poonawala said that such statements and allegations are against the principles of democratic system and good governance.
On Congress MP Shashi Tharoor praising India AI Impact Summit 2026, Poonawalla said, “Congress leaders themselves are doing the work of exposing Rahul Gandhi’s lies. Last time, Rahul Gandhi had spread lies during Operation Sindoor, claiming that India had surrendered. Shashi Tharoor responded to Rahul Gandhi’s false claims by working with an ‘India First’ approach.”
Earlier on February 15, Shehzad Poonawala had made harsh remarks on the Congress leadership. He had sarcastically said that there are mobile and automobile factories in the country, but Congress runs a ‘factory of lies’ and Rahul Gandhi is the ‘Nawab of lies’. Lying has become Rahul Gandhi’s nature.
