At the same time, the candidate of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad is leading for the post of General Secretary. Congress-backed student organization NSUI has also contested this election, but NSUI is lagging badly and is not in contest on any of the four seats.

It is noteworthy that various left organizations have jointly contested the JNU Students Union elections this year. Left organizations like SFI, AISA and DSF have come together in student union elections after a long time. Aditi Mishra was in the fray for the post of president from these left parties. Aditi Mishra is currently leading in the counting of votes so far compared to all other candidates contesting for the post of President. Left candidate Keezhakoot Gopika Babu also has the lead for the post of Vice President.

Sunil Yadav, the joint candidate of left parties for the post of General Secretary, is currently lagging behind. In the counting so far, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad’s candidate for the post of General Secretary, Rajeshwar Kant Dubey is continuously leading by a slight margin.

Left candidate Danish Ali has the lead over Joint Secretary. At present, counting of votes is going on on all four seats and it will take some more time for the final results to come. This year a total of 8 polling stations were set up in the university.

The voting process started at these polling centers of JNU from 9 am on Tuesday. Voting was conducted here in two different shifts. Voting for the first shift continued till 1 pm. Rajeshwar Kant Dubey was the candidate for the post of General Secretary and Anuj was the ABVP candidate for the post of Joint Secretary.
