Jaipur. During the three-day all India meeting of cow protection department of Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) held in Jaipur, Bharatiya Govan Raksha and Samvardhan Parishad President Guru Prasad, while addressing the press conference, declared the protection of cow progeny as a national duty. He said that cow dynasty is the basic foundation of India’s eternal culture and the Indian cow is not just an animal but is revered as a ‘mother’.
Guru Prasad refused to consider cow protection merely a matter of religious faith and said that it is directly linked to the protection of India’s health, environment, agriculture, rural economy and culture. Expressing serious concern over the current situation, he said that today cows are dying a painful death by eating polythene on the roads, which is a matter of great concern for both the society and the government. The Sant Samaj, farmers, cow devotees and cow protectors present in the meeting unanimously passed the resolution that the government and the society together need to take concrete steps to protect the cow progeny, so that India’s culture and economy can remain safe.
Major demands of VHP:
National Heritage and Festival: Cow should be declared national heritage and Gopashtami should be given the status of national festival.
Strict Central Law: A strict law should be made by the Central Government to stop cow slaughter.
Conservation and Land: The grazing land should be freed from encroachment and big cow sanctuaries should be established.
Cow in National Policy: Bovine based economy (like Panchgavya products) should be included in the national policy of the country.
Call to society and importance of cow service:
Active participation from the society was also called for through the meeting. It said that every citizen should increase the use of Panchagavya and cow products in daily life. Cow service should be made an essential part of one’s life. Rural employment and indigenous industries should be linked to the cow based model.
It was made clear in the All India meeting that cow protection is not of any particular religion but a national duty, and only the joint role of the government, society and every citizen in this direction can ensure permanent protection of India’s health, environment and culture.
