** Health deteriorated due to extreme heat and AC not working **
The flight was scheduled to take off at 2:40 pm, but the malfunction was discovered just before takeoff. When the aircraft was stopped from proceeding onto the runway, passengers were not evacuated. Meanwhile, the air conditioning (AC) system of the aircraft also stopped working. In the humid and scorching heat of Delhi, without AC the cabin became like a furnace. All the passengers including small children, elderly people and women became worried. Desperate to get relief, passengers started fanning themselves with magazines and their clothes on the flight. A passenger on board the flight said, “It was becoming difficult to breathe inside. Children were crying, yet the airline staff was not ready to take us out.”
**Passengers got angry; Argument with crew members**
When no help was received even after a long wait, the patience of the passengers ran out. The angry passengers started creating ruckus and protesting inside the plane. He questioned why they were not immediately sent back to the terminal after the technical glitch was discovered, and said compromise on security and passenger convenience would not be tolerated.
**Management took action after the uproar**
Seeing the increasing anger among the passengers, the airline management finally took action. The aircraft doors were hurriedly opened and the passengers were taken back to the airport terminal by buses. After technical repairs and checks, the aircraft finally took off after a delay of several hours. The flight which was originally scheduled to reach Ranchi at 4:35 pm, finally reached there at 8:15 pm.
