The admission process for nursery class in private schools of Delhi started from Thursday. This process, which started from December 4, will continue till December 27. Parents who want to get their children admitted in Nursery (Pre-School), KG (Pre-Primary) and Class 1 should submit their forms before the deadline. The Directorate of Education (DoE) has released complete guidelines for the 2026-27 academic year. According to DoE, the admission process for Nursery, KG and Class 1 will start from today. There are more than 1,700 private schools in Delhi, and all schools have been instructed to maintain complete transparency during the admission process (Delhi Nursery Admission).
Important dates related to the admission process:
The process will start from December 4.
The last date for form submission is 27th December.
Schools will upload the details of all applicants on January 9.
The scores given to each child will be released on January 16. The first list and waiting list will be released on 23 January and the second list will be released on 9 February.
Parents will be able to seek clarification on their marks from January 24 to February 3.
The admission process will end on March 19.
The DoE order states that whether admission is through computerized system or traditional slip, the draw of lots should be done in the presence of parents. The first list of selected candidates will be released on January 23, 2026. The second list will be released on February 9, 2026. This rule applies to 75 percent seats given to general category. Separate instructions will be issued later for students of Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Disadvantaged Groups.
What will be the registration fee?
Schools are allowed to charge only ₹25 as registration fee. There will be no need to buy school prospectus. Institutions will have to inform parents about the draw dates at least two days in advance through their notice board, website, SMS or email.
How to fill the form?
Parents can fill the online application form by visiting the official website of DoE: edudel.nic.in.
By visiting this link, you will see the option ‘Nursery Admission 2026–27’. Select this.
Then, fill in the required information. You will be asked to upload necessary documents along with required details. Therefore, keep soft copies of the documents ready.
After filling all the information, you will be asked to pay the registration fee.
Parents are advised to download and save a copy of the submitted form.

What is the age of children for admission? As of March 31, 2026, the age eligibility for nursery (pre-school) is 3–4 years.
For KG (Pre-Primary) it is 4–5 years.
For Class 1 it is 5–6 years.
Further age relaxation is given
DoE has also given 30 days relaxation in minimum and maximum age limits. According to the order, the school principal can give age relaxation of up to one month as per his wish. For this a written application is necessary.
