He was living in India for the last seven years without valid visa documents. After completing all the legal formalities, the police have started the process of sending him back with the help of FRRO New Delhi. The arrested person has been identified as Emmanuel Ogugua (43), a resident of Nigeria. South West District Police said special teams were formed for crime prevention and surveillance on illegally staying foreigners. They were instructed to gather intelligence and take strict action against such foreign nationals.
Under this campaign, a team of ASI Virendra, HC Sandeep Kumar, HC Krishna Kumar and Constable Kamlesh was activated under the leadership of Inspector Sudhir Kumar Gulia and supervision of ACP Anil Kumar.
During the investigation, the team received information that some Nigerian citizens were living in the area without valid documents. Later, upon verification from the Nigerian Embassy, the correct information was obtained.
Information was received from the Nigerian Embassy that his visa had expired several years ago and he had not renewed it. Police investigation revealed that he had come to India on a medical visa and stayed in various hospitals in Delhi during treatment. Later he started living with his friend in a church in Dabri area and started giving religious speeches there. Despite the expiry of the visa period, he did not leave India nor did he apply for it.
Recently, due to construction work, he left the church and started living with his acquaintances in Mahavir Enclave, information about which the police had received from an informer. After that the special team of police arrested him. The police is interrogating the Nigerian citizen and trying to find out if there is anyone else with him.
