Delhi, March 8 (). Delhi Police has arrested three criminals, including wanted shooter Shohaib, in the case of attack on a lawyer in Mayur Vihar in January 2026. These arrests were made by the Special Staff of the Central District Police during an operation near MG Road. Police have recovered a Made in Italy pistol, eight live cartridges and a bike stolen from Sunlight Colony police station along with two scooters from their possession. The accused Shohaib alias Ajju is a notorious criminal of Mayur Vihar police station, against whom seven criminal cases are already registered. The other two are also habitual offenders and involved in serious cases.
According to Rohit Rajbir Singh, Deputy Commissioner of New Delhi Central District, a continuous operation is being conducted against wanted criminals. Under this campaign, on March 5, 2026, secret information was received that notorious criminal Shohaib alias would come to meet his associates near Rose Garden, MG Road on Thursday night at 11:00 pm. Shohaib was wanted in Mayur Vihar police station in a case of attempt to murder.
On this information, a special raid team was formed under the leadership of Special Staff Inspector in-charge Rohit Kumar. After this, the special staff laid the trap under the leadership of Kamal Sharma, ACP Operations, Central District. Meanwhile, at 11 pm, three suspicious persons on two scooters reached Gandhi Smarak Nidhi, Service Road, Gandhi Smarak Bus Stand, near Gate No. 2, near MG Road. The police immediately arrested the three accused, who were identified as Sohaib alias Ajju (23), resident of Trilokpuri, Mohd. Anees alias Sonu (36 years) resident of Chandni Chowk and Majid (24 years) resident of Trilokpuri.
The main culprit Sohaib alias Ajju graduated from HLM College, Muradnagar (Uttar Pradesh) in 2024. After completing his studies, he started wholesale chicken meat business in Ghazipur Murga Mandi and was earning around Rs 70,000-80,000 per month. About 3-4 years ago, during a dispute, he attacked his neighbor with a brick. He then became involved in criminal activities and was arrested in an attempt to murder case. After this, in January 2026, Sohaib had enmity with Rashid alias Kankhada, a local resident of Trilokpuri, after a fight with one of his friends. To take revenge, he had purchased an illegal pistol from his associate Asif alias Kalia. After this, on January 24, along with his associates, he allegedly opened fire on a lawyer in Mayur Vihar police station area. After the incident, he remained absconding to avoid arrest and deliberately avoided using the mobile phone. He also kept changing his location again and again. Sohaib is a notorious criminal of Mayur Vihar police station and has 7 criminal cases registered against him in the past including robbery, snatching and attempt to murder.
Arrested Mohammad Anees alias Sonu studied till seventh class and left studies at an early age. During interrogation, he told that at an early age he had fallen into bad company and started getting involved in criminal activities.
The third accused, Majeed, was arrested by Pandav Nagar police about three years ago in a case related to opening of bank accounts for betting and he remained in Mandoli jail for about 28 days. After his release, he again came in contact with criminal elements and got involved in cases of theft and snatching. During this time, he became friends with criminals Shohaib alias Ajju, Asif alias Kalia and Anees alias Sonu.
