New Delhi, July 12 (). Police have arrested two female accused in the case of robbing an elderly man of his gold ring by knocking him down in Kapashera area of south-west Delhi. Investigation has revealed that both the women had committed similar crimes in the past and used to target people traveling alone.
According to the police, the 60-year-old man was returning home on a bike after a job interview at a warehouse in Kapashera on July 6. Meanwhile, near Fun and Food, two women suddenly appeared in front of his bike. Due to sudden braking, he lost his balance and fell on the road.
It is alleged that both the women approached him on the pretext of picking him up. One woman held both his hands, while the other physically harassed him to distract him. Meanwhile, the other woman took out the gold ring worn on his right hand. After committing the crime, both of them fled from the spot.
The victim, who was shocked by the incident, complained to the police the next day. On the basis of this, a case of robbery was registered in Kapashera police station and investigation was started.
During the investigation, the police examined the footage of CCTV cameras installed in and around the incident site. On the basis of technical evidence and information received from the informer, the police identified the two women as Anjali and Shilpa. Both are residents of Khanpur area of South Delhi. The police have arrested both of them.
During interrogation, it was revealed that both the accused women had been involved in similar incidents in the past also. According to the police, on April 25, he had similarly made a person riding a Creta car his victim in Vasant Kunj South area.
According to police officials, both the women used to very viciously target people traveling alone. First, she would try to stop them or make them fall under some pretext and then pretend to help, divert their attention and run away with the valuables.
At present, the police is interrogating both the accused and trying to find out how many such incidents they have committed in Delhi and surrounding areas. His involvement in other cases is also being investigated.
