Demand to celebrate Diwali festival in Aligarh Muslim University, Holi was also organized

There is a demand to celebrate Diwali in Aligarh Muslim University. AMU student Akhil Kaushal has written a letter to the proctor requesting to celebrate Diwali in the AMU NRSC Club. In the letter he said that this event will be organized to connect the students and promote the tradition of Indian festivals. He assured that all safety and university rules will be followed. The student has asked for permission to organize the event.

This year, for the first time, Holi celebration was organized in the university on the request of students. Amid demands from some students to allow Holi celebrations on the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) campus, the university administration has given permission to students to play Holi in the Students Non-Resident Students Center Hall. Holi celebration took place in AMU on 13 and 14 March.

Aligarh BJP MP Satish Gautam and former Aligarh Mayor and BJP leader Shakuntala Bharti also supported the students’ decision to celebrate Holi in the university. Student leader Akhil Kaushal had also given an application to the AMU authorities on March 9, seeking permission for special Holi celebration in NRSC.

AMU students were allowed to celebrate Holi.

On the demand of students to celebrate Holi, AMU said that there are exams in the university on March 9. It would not be right for students to come to play Holi on that day. March 10, 11 and 12 are working days on which classes are held. There are holidays on 13th and 14th March. Students can play Holi and organize Holi celebrations during this period. AMU has now confirmed that there is every possibility of celebrating Diwali.
