Bilaspur. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri visited the site of the tragic bus accident in village Bhallu under Jhanduta tehsil at around 1 am. He took information about the situation at the spot from the administrative officials, NDRF and police team present on the spot and met the affected families and shared their grief and pain. He reached Barathi Hospital and met the bereaved families who had lost their loved ones and expressed his deep condolences to them and said that the government stands with them in this difficult time. He directed the administration to speed up the relief and rescue operations and provide all possible assistance to the affected families. This accident happened late on Monday evening when a private bus going from Marotan to Ghumarwin route was hit by a landslide. So far, 16 people have been confirmed dead in this heartbreaking incident, while two children have been rescued safely.
The NDRF team pulled out 15 bodies from the debris in an overnight operation, while the body of a child was recovered in the morning.
Deputy Chief Minister Agnihotri, who was present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of Kullu Dussehra festival last day, left the program midway as soon as he got information about the accident and left for the incident site. He coordinated with relief teams and ensured prompt action.
After reviewing the relief work, he left for Kullu from Bilaspur, where he will attend the formal closing ceremony of the International Kullu Dussehra Festival at around 11 pm today.
Governor expressed grief over Bilaspur bus accident
Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla has expressed deep grief over the loss of lives in the massive landslide that occurred on Tuesday evening near Bhallu bridge in Jhandutta sub-division of Bilaspur district, where debris suddenly fell on a private bus.
The Governor prayed for peace of the departed souls and expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. He wished speedy recovery of those injured in this unfortunate incident.
