Prayagraj. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said in the inauguration-foundation ceremony of the newly constructed Sadan Hall of Prayagraj Municipal Corporation and various development projects on Tuesday that the government has not stopped anywhere in the development journey of the state. This journey is moving forward continuously like the stream of Mother Ganga. Referring to the mantra of ‘Charaiveti-Charaiveti’, the Chief Minister said that Prayagraj has today become a wonderful confluence of cultural heritage, spiritual pride and modern development. Before the year 2017, events like Magh Mela and Kumbh had become symbols of filth, stampede, disorder and anarchy. People were hesitant even to come to Prayagraj. But in the year 2019, when his government got the opportunity to organize Kumbh, with the guidance and inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Prayagraj Kumbh was recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This gave global recognition to Indian culture and Sanatan tradition. He said that during both the Kumbh-2019 and Maha Kumbh-2025 events, the double engine government developed extensive infrastructure facilities in Prayagraj. If they are maintained better, then by the next Kumbh these facilities will become the permanent heritage of Prayagraj.
Praising the work of the Municipal Corporation and the Mayor, the Chief Minister said that work has been done to link heritage with development. In the beginning of the year 2024, when Prayagraj was inspected for the preparations for Mahakumbh-2025, it was decided that the city would be given a new identity. Today the 161 year old Municipal Corporation building is visible in a grand form. A modern assembly hall has been prepared for the councilors and the Municipal Corporation is inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of projects worth Rs 400 crore. At some places zonal parks are being developed and at some places a new series of Shivalik parks is being prepared.
Describing Shivalik Park as a successful example of ‘Waste to Wealth’, he said that replicas of twelve Jyotirlingas were made from 400 tonnes of waste material, which have become the center of attraction for the people. Such efforts give a new identity to Prayagraj.
The Chief Minister said that earlier the darshan of Akshaya Vat was not available to the common devotees, but in the year 2019, with the inspiration of the Prime Minister, Akshaya Vat was opened for the devotees. Now devotees can visit there and drink water from Saraswati well. Maharishi Bhardwaj’s ashram remained a victim of encroachment for years, but now it has been freed and given a grand appearance.
Describing Maharishi Bhardwaj as the first Vice Chancellor of the world, he said that Prayagraj is now regaining its cultural dignity. Today the roads of Prayagraj have become wide and smart and the city has started a new journey of development as a smart city. The Municipal Corporation and public representatives are working to bring development to every ward and locality.
Chief Minister Yogi said that this combination of Ganga Dussehra, Jyeshtha month and Tuesday is an occasion of special virtue. Nine years ago there was an atmosphere of fear, terror, anarchy, mafia and hooliganism in Prayagraj. Public land was encroached upon and development was completely stalled. But today Prayagraj is completely free from mafia and hooliganism. Now daughters, businessmen and common citizens can go out without fear at any time. If anyone dares to molest daughters or commit crime, he will have to pay the price for it. The double engine government is working with the aim of security, good governance and prosperity.
Expressing special gratitude to the people of Prayagraj, he said that despite the huge inconvenience in traffic and transportation for 45 days of Mahakumbh, no one expressed any protest or dissatisfaction. The entire city seemed as if it was celebrating its own house. The success of any big event is possible when the public accepts it as their own program and cooperates.
CM Yogi said that it is only because of the blessings and support of the public that the government is able to bring employment, farmer welfare, poor welfare and big infrastructure projects on the ground. Today, one can reach Delhi from Prayagraj through Ganga Expressway in just seven hours. On this expressway built with world-class technology, even at a speed of 120 kilometers per hour, it feels as if the vehicle is standing still. In the assembly constituency of Harsh Vardhan ji, a four-lane bridge is being constructed on the Ganga river at a cost of about Rs 1000 crore and the work of Phaphamau bridge will also be completed soon. Efforts are being made to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of all these big projects with the blessings of Prime Minister Modi ji.
The Chief Minister said that work is yet to be done on many big projects in Prayagraj and the government will take them forward. Remembering Lord Prayagraj, Akshay Vat, Mother Ganga and Lord Veni Madhav, he said that the development journey of Prayagraj will continue to move forward without stopping, without wavering and without bowing down.
He assured that the state government will fully cooperate with every proposal coming forward for development. The Chief Minister released a book based on the glorious three years of Prayagraj Municipal Corporation. He also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various projects at a cost of Rs 400 crore and inaugurated the new website of Prayagraj Fair Authority.
On this occasion, CM honored the sanitation workers by giving them kits. These included Safai Nayak Lata Kumari, Safai Mitra Poonam, Phula Devi, Meena Devi and Sanjay Kumar. Cap, gloves, boots, mask and coat were provided in this kit.
