Chandigarh. On Tuesday, a passenger’s personal electronic device caught fire on an IndiGo flight from Hyderabad to Chandigarh. This incident happened after the plane landed, when the plane was standing on the ground. All passengers were safely transported to the terminal. The incident occurred on Flight 6E 108, when the aircraft was on the ground. The cabin crew took immediate action and took control of the situation and avoided any kind of damage. “After landing of IndiGo flight 6E 108 from Hyderabad to Chandigarh on May 5, 2026, a fire was reported in the personal electronic device of a passenger,” the airline spokesperson said in the statement.
The airline said that in view of security, immediate evacuation was done and all concerned authorities were informed about it.
“All passengers have been safely transported to the terminal and are being looked after. Necessary checks will be carried out before the aircraft is brought back into service. The safety of passengers and crew is our top priority at IndiGo,” the spokesperson said.
Earlier in late March, a full emergency was declared at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) after an IndiGo flight suffered a mid-air technical glitch in which one of the aircraft’s engines failed.
This Delhi bound flight made a safe emergency landing on runway number 28. All emergency services at the airport were alerted before landing and all necessary arrangements were made by Delhi International Airport Limited.
According to the Civil Aviation Ministry, a full emergency was declared at the airport at 10:39 am and the flight landed safely at 10:54 am. After this, operations at the airport became normal.
In this incident, all 161 passengers and crew members on board the plane remained completely safe and the plane itself did not suffer any damage. This Indigo flight was going from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh to Delhi.
