Mumbai, January 17 (). Indian cinema’s veteran musician AR Rahman is in the headlines for his recent statement. In an interview he said that he has been getting less work in Bollywood in the last eight years. Communalism is now seen in Hindi cinema. Politics in the country has heated up over Rahman’s statement. On his statement, famous lyricist Javed Akhtar said that AR Rahman is a very big man, even a small producer is afraid of going near him.
While talking to in Mumbai, famous lyricist Javed Akhtar said that I never felt like this. I live in Mumbai, meet all the people. People respect me a lot. Perhaps people would understand that AR Rahman is more busy in the West, devotes more time to the show, hence will he come to us or not. Rahman is such a great personality that even small producers may feel hesitant in approaching him.
Javed Akhtar said that I do not think there is any element in it.
Regarding recreation of songs, Javed Akhtar said that we have no dearth of talent. India is called the ocean of talent.
On AR Rahman’s statement, lyricist Prasoon Joshi said that I have not heard or known about it yet. So, until I discuss it with them, I cannot comment on it.
Musician Ehsaan Noorani said that music is a global thing, you know. We just need to keep making good music, and that’s the most important thing.
Singer Mahalaxmi Iyer said that I do not believe so. I no longer sing as many film songs as I used to, because many new talents have emerged. Many new artists get opportunities through TV shows and other platforms, and they deserve that chance. The new music director is coming with something new. The public also wants to hear something new.
