Gangtok, April 28 (). Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Sikkim on a two-day visit. He held a grand mega road show in Gangtok on Sunday, turning the entire city into a huge festival venue.
On the Prime Minister’s visit, Akhil Kirat Rai Sangh President Bimal Kumar Rai told , “We are very excited and hope that he will bless us tomorrow also. We are very happy to welcome the Prime Minister of India. We are demanding tribal system in the state of India, which we have already put before the Sikkim government. We hope that the Sikkim government will put this demand before the Prime Minister of India and I am confident that he will give us the right to speak here.”
Bimal Kumar said, “In the last 50 years, the state of Sikkim has made tremendous progress in the field of economic development, social development and of course educational development. We have received a lot of intellectual resources. Everything has changed right from the people living in the state and their behaviour. Our city got the status of an independent state. There has also been a huge change in the standard of living in this state in these 50 years.”
Chairman of Lal Bazaar Youth Development Committee K.G. Namgyal said, “Thank you to our ADMLA and our Chief Patron Lakma Moktan for giving us the opportunity to come here and do our work. We are very happy that our Prime Minister is coming to Sikkim and we hope that he will take care of our people, our region and many of our problems will be resolved as soon as possible. There is a crisis of roads, infrastructure, electricity, water. There is also a crisis of LPG. So we hope that all these issues will be resolved soon.”
Namgyal said, “Being the Prime Minister of India, we have big expectations from him. We hope he will do good things for Sikkim. This is what we are waiting for. Sikkim is celebrating 50 years this year.”
