New Delhi, April 25 (). There was a stir on Saturday due to fire in Shakurbasti of Punjabi Bagh police station area of West Delhi and Laxmi Nagar J Extension area of East Delhi. On receiving information about the fire, the fire brigade reached the spot and brought the fire under control.
According to the information, the fire department received information about the fire in Shakurbasti area of Punjabi Bagh police station area at around 11:15 am, after which immediate action was taken and 16 fire engines were sent to the spot. The fire was brought under control after about one and a half hour of hard work. It is a matter of relief that there is no news of any casualty in this accident, but hundreds of slums were completely burnt to ashes.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire spread so fast that people did not even get a chance to recover. Within no time, the flames took a huge form and engulfed the entire colony. All the belongings of many families were burnt to ashes.
After the incident, there was an atmosphere of chaos in the area. Fire brigade personnel reached the spot and started extinguishing the fire and after hard work brought the situation under control. Local police also reached the spot and cooperated in relief and rescue operations.
Speaking to news agency , a local resident said, “I had gone out for work. When I returned, everything was burnt to ashes. Now we have nothing left.” After this accident, the affected families are facing serious problems of living and food.
Punjabi Bagh DCP said that as soon as the information was received, police and fire department teams immediately reached the spot. At present the fire has been completely controlled and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
At the same time, an incident of fire in a transformer was reported in Laxmi Nagar J Extension area of East Delhi, which spread to four nearby buildings. Eight fire tenders were deployed in this incident. According to fire officials, about 14 flats have been affected, although no casualties have been reported here either.
Assistant Divisional Officer Rajesh Kumar Shukla, speaking to the media, said, “Initially, we received calls reporting the transformer fire. In fact, we received multiple calls from different places and some people even called from their personal mobile phones. The first call came around 12:45 am. Initially, four fire tenders were dispatched. However, after reaching the spot and seeing that the fire had spread from the transformer to the flat, “The situation has been upgraded. The fire has been brought under control, the cause of the fire is being investigated.”
