Lucknow, 9 September (). The movement launched by Jane ji in Nepal has taken a fierce form. Millions of youth have come out on the streets and are protesting against the government.
This protest was not limited to slogans and rallies, but has now taken the form of violence. Important government locations like Parliament House, President’s Housing and Prime Minister’s residence were attacked by protesters and set fire to them. In view of this serious situation, Nepal President Ram Chandra Paudel, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and his entire cabinet had to resign.
Former Prime Minister of Nepal K.I. Singh’s grandson Yashwant Mishra has spoken to , in which he described the current situation as a Misshandal Crisis and pointed to the government’s failures. According to Yashwant Mishra, corruption was at its peak in Nepal for a long time. Governments were constantly changing, but the problems of the general public remained the same. The large population of the country is youth, who are called Jane ji.
He said that Nepal has a total population of about 3.2 crore, out of which about 40 lakh people work abroad. These people use social media such as WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram to stay in touch with their family. But when the government suddenly banned all these platforms, this decision was no less than a shock for the general public.
Yashwant Mishra says that now social media has become an important part of people’s everyday life. Suddenly, when the government banned these platforms without any prior notice, the anger erupted naturally. He believes that the government should work in a thoughtful and phased manner before taking such decisions.
Yashwant Mishra says that this protest became more fierce when the police started firing on the protesters. Rubber bullets or less deadly measures could be used, but the police used fatal weapons. A school child died by being shot outside the Parliament House, which is an open violation of international human rights. He said that such incidents should not happen in any democratic country.
According to Yashwant Mishra, this movement started against corruption in a peaceful manner, but the wrong response of the government made it violent. He said that the Prime Minister kept quietly sitting on his seat, but when the situation was out of control, he had to run away from the helicopter. The situation became so frightening that the government had to deploy police and army. The protesters set Rashtrapati Bhavan and Parliament House on fire. Yashwant clarified that violence cannot be justified under any circumstances, but when people have no alternative, they take such steps angry.
He suggested that an interim caretaker government should be formed in Nepal to improve the current situation and general elections should be held in 2026. He also said that to provide stability to the new government, it should also have provisions like right to recall.
Yashwant Mishra also said that Nepal is no longer the country that was 25 years ago. Now there is a huge amount of foreign investment coming there. There are more than 200 bank registers, the US and India’s IT companies are trading there, and Assembly plants of multinational companies have been set up. At the same time only last month, more than 88,000 foreign tourists have come to Nepal. Despite having so many opportunities, why are people forced to go abroad?
He says that even good policies of the government were not reaching the public, because the scamsters were eating everything in between. He said that the movement started by Jane ji in Nepal was not just against a social media ban, but it was against the corrupt and incompetent governance system that has been going on for years.
