New Delhi. On the death anniversary of Bharat Ratna and former President of India Varahgiri Venkat Giri alias V.V. Giri, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and Himachal Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and other leaders have paid tribute. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan wrote on Twitter, “I pay my tribute to the great freedom fighter, former President of the country Bharat Ratna V.V. Giri on his death anniversary. You will always be remembered as a true hero who brought light to the lives of workers with his service to the nation and society.” Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma posted on Instagram, “Respectful tribute to the great freedom fighter, former President of India Bharat Ratna VV Giri on his death anniversary! The country will always remember his incomparable contribution to labor welfare, nation building and strengthening democracy. His thoughts and ideals will always remain an inspiration for us.”
Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary posted on Instagram, “Heartfelt tribute and respectful homage to former President Varahgiri Venkat Giri, awarded the country’s highest honor Bharat Ratna, on his death anniversary.”
The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand wrote on the social media platform
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu wrote on Twitter, “Heartfelt tribute to Bharat Ratna and former President of India VV Giri on his death anniversary. The country will always remember his contribution to the freedom movement and his efforts for workers’ rights.”
Vijay Kumar Sinha, a minister in the Bihar government, posted on Instagram, “Heartfelt tribute to Bharat Ratna VV Giri, Indian freedom fighter, fiery speaker, famous writer and skilled politician, fourth President of India, Bharat Ratna VV Giri on his death anniversary.”
Varahagiri Venkata Giri, the fourth President of India, played an important role in the field of labor movements and trade unions. He also served the country as Labor Minister, Governor of various states and Vice President of India. He was awarded Bharat Ratna in the year 1975 for his remarkable contribution to public life and nation building.
