Bristol, July 10 (). On the basis of the unbroken century partnership of Philip Salt and Harry Brook, England won the fourth match of the T20 series against India played at the County Ground by 9 wickets. With this, the host team has captured the five-match series 3-1.
The first match of the T20 series between India and England was inconclusive due to rain. After this, England won by 4 wickets in the next match. The host team took an unassailable lead in the series by winning the third match played in Nottingham by 125 runs. Now the fifth and final match of the series is to be played in Southampton on 11 July.
On Thursday, after winning the toss, the Indian team came to bat and scored 158 runs after losing 7 wickets in the stipulated overs. Team India had lost its 3 wickets till the score of 48. From here captain Shreyas Iyer took charge. He along with Shivam Dubey added 53 runs in 43 balls for the fourth wicket.
Dubey was out after scoring 22 runs in 23 balls. After this, Iyer scored 29 runs with Tilak Verma (11) and 27 runs with Washington Sundar (5). Iyer remained unbeaten on 80 runs in 49 balls with 5 sixes and 4 fours. For England, Joffra Archer and Josh Tong took 2-2 wickets, while Will Jacques and Adil Rashid got 1-1 success.
In response, England won the match in just 13.5 overs. The host team got its first blow in 2.3 overs in the form of Jos Buttler, who was out after scoring 8 runs. From here Captain Harry Brook took charge along with Philip Salt.
Both the players made an unbroken partnership of 146 runs in 68 balls. ‘Player of the Match’ Brook remained unbeaten on 79 off 35 balls with 4 sixes and 8 fours, while Salt remained unbeaten on 59 off 42 balls with 10 boundaries. The only success for India came from Arshdeep Singh, who took 1 wicket for 41 runs in 3.5 overs.
