Hundreds of youth took to the streets on September 20, 2025 in Peru’s capital Lima. This demonstration was organized mainly by the youth of Jane Ji i.e. new generations. The main objective of the youth was to raise their voice against ‘Corruption, Economic Inspection and Pension Reforms Act’. This protest organized by a youth group named ‘Generation ji’ is part of the protests, organized crime in Peru, corruption in government positions and increasing social dissatisfaction against recent pension reforms. Why are the youth angry in Peru?
In fact, recently the Congress of Peru has made changes in private pension funds, which fears the youth that their future savings will be unsafe. At the same time, rising crime rate and government corruption have increased the restlessness among the youth.
