Gujarat Titans qualified for the final by defeating Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets in the second qualifier. Captain Shubman Gill played an important role in this one-sided victory of Gujarat with his brilliant century. Batting first, Rajasthan scored 214 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. Chasing the target, GT won by scoring 219 runs at the loss of 3 wickets in just 18.4 overs. Leading the team, Gill played the best innings of the match, scoring 104 runs in 53 balls, which included 15 fours and 3 sixes.
Opening with Gill, Sai Sudarshan also played a brilliant innings and scored a half century. The pair made a huge partnership of 167 runs for the first wicket (in 77 balls), which led the team to victory. Sudarshan scored 58 runs in 32 balls with the help of 8 fours and 1 six. Like the last match, in this match too he was out ‘hit-wicket’. Gujarat has now become the second finalist team. The team’s final match will be played against Royal Challengers Bangalore on 31 May (Sunday).
**Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s innings went in vain**
Rajasthan captain Riyan Parag won the toss and decided to bat first. 15 year old opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi played a sensational innings for the team, in which he scored 96 runs in 47 balls with the help of 8 fours and 7 sixes. Apart from Suryavanshi, Ravindra Jadeja scored 45 runs. The rest of the batsmen of the team could not show anything special. Apart from Suryavanshi and Jadeja, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 1 run, Dhruv Jurel scored 7 runs, captain Ryan Parag scored 11 runs, Dasun Shanaka scored 3 runs, Joffra Archer scored 7 runs and Donovan Ferreira scored unbeaten 38 runs in 11 balls. Ferreira’s innings included 2 fours and 4 sixes.
Great performance by Gujarat while chasing the target:
Gujarat’s batting performance was excellent while chasing the target. Gill and Sudarshan made a brilliant partnership. After his dismissal, the rest of the work was completed by Jos Buttler, Washington Sundar and Rahul Tewatia. Sundar contributed 16 runs, Butler contributed 9* and Tewatia contributed 17* runs.
