Today, Chira Dahi Utsav was celebrated with great pomp in Gupta Vrindavan Dham. Lakhs of people gathered from all over Jaipur to witness this divine occasion and seek the blessings of the Lord. Special fruit-decoration of Lord Shri Shri Krishna Balram was done with 1100 kg of fruits, devotees performed Sankirtan dance in the grand palanquin festival. Lord Sri Sri Gaur Nitai (Krishna Balram) was performed with fruit juice and flowers. On the Dahi Chida festival, Sri Sri Krishna Balram wore a dress made of 15 types of dry fruits which was prepared by the devotees in 551 hours. At the Panihati Dahi Chida Mahotsav, 30,000 liters of divine water was used to bathe Shri Krishna-Balram in the sacred pond. In the construction of this divine pond, 500 kg of flower petals, water from seven holy rivers, rose water, Kewra water and fragrant perfumes were used.
At the Dahi Chira Mahotsav in Gupt Vrindavan Dham, a grand offering of 21 types of special Chira-curd, made only once a year, was offered. President of Gupta Vrindavan Dham, Amitasana Das told that there is a village named Panihati near Kolkata in West Bengal, in this village Srila Raghunath Das Goswami had the first meeting with Nityanad Prabhu and every year to commemorate this, Panihati Chira Dahi Utsav is organized in Gupta Vrindavan Dham.
On this day, following the orders of Nityanada Prabhu, Srila Raghunath Das Goswami distributed rice mixed with curd to all the devotees. This festival is also known as Dand Mahotsav (festival of punishment).
