Jammu, June 27 (). Jammu and Kashmir Police has started finalizing security preparations with the aim of conducting the upcoming Amarnath Yatra-2026 in a safe, peaceful and orderly manner. In this sequence, Special DGP (Coordination) of Jammu and Kashmir Police S.J.M. Geelani on Saturday visited Bhagwati Nagar Base Camp and Tawi River Front in Jammu along with senior officials and conducted a detailed inspection of the security arrangements.
During the inspection, IGP Jammu Bhim Sen Tooti, IGP CRPF, DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range, DIG Traffic, SSP Jammu and SSP Security and other senior officers were present with him. The officials took stock of the deployment of security forces, traffic management and other arrangements at major sites related to the Yatra.
During the visit, the Special DGP laid special emphasis on maintaining better coordination between various security agencies. He directed that the security arrangements during Shri Amarnath Yatra-2026 should be completely strong, uninterrupted and coordinated, so that the devotees do not face any kind of inconvenience and the Yatra can be completed peacefully.
During this, senior officials were also given information about the multi-layered security grid implemented on the yatra route and base camps. Security agencies said that a comprehensive plan has been prepared to ensure the safety of the devotees at each stage of the yatra. This includes deployment of additional security forces at sensitive sites, strengthening surveillance systems and arrangements for quick coordination between various agencies.
The officials also inspected the accommodation, entry and exit arrangements of the pilgrims at the Bhagwati Nagar base camp. Also, security resources and surveillance mechanism in Tawi River Front area were assessed, so that any possible challenge during the yatra could be faced effectively in time.
According to Jammu and Kashmir Police, the safety of devotees will be the top priority during Shri Amarnath Yatra. For this, constant coordination is being maintained between the police, central paramilitary forces and other concerned agencies. Officials clarified that all necessary safety standards will be ensured along the journey route and at major stops.
