Jaipur. Monsoon has officially entered Rajasthan on Thursday and with its entry, heavy rains have started in many parts of the state. On the first day, monsoon has covered parts of 13 districts of the state. It has been raining intermittently for the last two days in many areas including the capital Jaipur, due to which up to 2 inches (about 50 to 68 mm) of water rained in many districts overnight. Due to this continuous monsoon rain, the people of the state have got a big relief from the scorching heat and humidity, due to which the maximum temperature of the day has dropped by 4 degrees Celsius.
Meteorological Department’s warning: Orange alert in Jhalawar, Kota and Baran
According to Meteorological Center Jaipur, heavy rains are likely to continue in the state on Friday also. The department has issued orange alert (warning of heavy to very heavy rain) for Kota, Baran and Jhalawar districts. Apart from this, yellow alert has been issued in entire Rajasthan except the desert district Jaisalmer. Meteorologists estimate that this period of rain will continue in the state for the next 2 weeks. At present the northern limit of monsoon is passing through Tonk, Jaipur and Alwar, and it is expected to cover the entire Rajasthan in the next 4 days.
Monsoon came from the Bay of Bengal branch, entry in July for the third time in 13 years
This time monsoon has entered Rajasthan from the Bay of Bengal branch. These monsoon winds have crossed Odisha, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh and entered the eastern districts of the state (Kota, Baran, Jhalawar).
If we look at the history of the last 13 years, this is the third time that monsoon has entered Rajasthan in the month of July instead of June. Earlier in the years 2014 and 2019 also, monsoon had come in July. However, despite the late arrival, record breaking rainfall was recorded in those years.
Where and how much rain occurred in the last 24 hours?
After the entry of monsoon on Thursday, heavy rain was recorded in many areas of Alwar, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Udaipur, Bharatpur and Karauli:
Jhunjhunu (Buhana): Maximum rainfall of 68 mm. Sikar (Patan): 51 mm rain. Alwar (Behror): 46 mm (A total of 67 mm rainfall was recorded in Alwar district till evening). Udaipur (Bhinder and Barapal): 40 mm and 38 mm rainfall respectively. Bharatpur (Bhusawar): 31 mm rain. Karauli (Masalpur): 27 mm rain. Ajmer (Sarwad): 29 mm rainfall (11 mm in Ajmer city).
Weather condition of major cities: Jaipur: Intermittent rain with dense clouds is continuing in the capital since Thursday night. Due to cold winds, the maximum temperature here has fallen by 4 degrees to 33.6 degrees Celsius.
Sikar and Jodhpur: The effect of strong sunlight and heat is still being seen in these two cities in the first week of July. The maximum temperature was recorded at 40.6 degrees Celsius in Jodhpur and 40.0 degrees Celsius in Sikar, due to which people were suffering from the humidity. However, monsoon is likely to arrive in Jodhpur in the next 1-2 days.
Udaipur: Due to heavy rains, water got accumulated on the roads in many areas of the district including Rishabhdev and Hiranmagri. There is a strong possibility of monsoon fully entering Udaipur on Friday.
Kota and Ajmer: Monsoon has entered Kota and the temperature has dropped by 2 degrees, but people are still waiting for heavy rains. The weather in Ajmer became pleasant due to 5.1 mm rain in the evening.
