Important news for travelers! Now Tatkal tickets will not be booked without OTP, this rule will be applicable in these trains including Rajdhani-Duronto from 6th December.

If you go to buy Tatkal tickets and return empty handed because of ticket brokers, this will not happen anymore. To improve passenger convenience and transparency in ticket booking, Indian Railways has implemented a new system based on One-Time Password (OTP) for Tatkal ticket booking. From December 6, OTP received on your mobile phone will be required to book Tatkal tickets in select Central Railway trains. Tickets will not be issued without OTP. This will stop the misuse of Tatkal tickets and curb the brokers, and will also make it easier for passengers to get tickets.

Where will the new railway rule apply?

Railways’ OTP-based rule will be applicable to Tatkal tickets booked at Computerized Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters, authorized agents and through the IRCTC website or mobile app. An OTP will be sent to the mobile number entered during Tatkal booking. The ticket will be confirmed only after entering the OTP.

In which trains will it be implemented first?
According to Railways, this rule will be applicable in 13 trains from December 6. This includes Duronto and Vande Bharat trains. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT)-Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express will be operational from December 5. Apart from this, this system is implemented in Pune-Hyderabad Shatabdi Express from December 1. This OTP-based Tatkal Reservation System may be implemented in all trains in the coming days. This will bring transparency in railway ticketing.
