If you think that credit cards are used only for shopping or paying bills, then Manish Dhameja’s story will definitely surprise you. He made the credit card not only a means of spending but also a means of income! This is why he made a Guinness World Record on April 30, 2021.
Manish has 1,638 credit cards. But these cards are not just for display or keeping. They use them to maximize reward points, cashback, travel offers and hotel benefits without incurring any debt. He has no responsibilities and carries all his cards with “zero debt”. His story is an example of how something meant for expenditure can also become a source of income if used wisely.
What does he do with so many credit cards?
In an interview with Guinness World Records, Manish said, “I feel that my life would be incomplete without a credit card.” I love credit cards. These give me a lot of benefits like free travel, railway and airport lounges, restaurants, spas, hotel vouchers, domestic flights, shopping vouchers, movie tickets, golf sessions and discounts on fuel. I earn all this from reward points, air miles and cashback.
Manish still remembers November 8, 2016, when the Government of India announced the demonetization of 500 and 1000 rupee notes. At that time, people across the country were standing in long lines outside banks and ATMs. But Manish could not believe it. “This decision caused panic across the country, but credit cards proved to be a boon for me. I didn’t have to run to the bank; I was just spending digitally using my card.”
Manish holds a BCA in Physics, Chemistry and Maths from CSJM University, Kanpur, MCA from Integral University, Lucknow and a Master’s degree in Social Work from IGNOU. His journey is proof that even ordinary things can become very special if technology and finance are planned wisely.
