Chief Secretary V. Srinivas has asked representatives of industrial unions of Jodhpur, Pali, Balotra, Jasol etc. to submit a concrete action plan to keep the rivers pollution free. He has also instructed the District Collectors of the concerned districts to prepare and send proposals with effective measures to ensure that polluted water from industries does not enter the rivers of the area including Jojri River. It is everyone’s responsibility to not allow the water in the rivers to get polluted.
Chief Secretary V. Srinivas was meeting representatives of industry associations and CETP steering committees of Jodhpur, Pali, Balotra at the Secretariat on Monday. He also discussed with the District Collectors of the respective districts in the virtual meeting.
Chief Secretary Srinivas said that the state government has always been serious about maintaining dialogue and solving problems through dialogue. In such a situation, there should be uninterrupted operation of industries, but keeping in mind the larger interest of the society and environmental protection, polluted water from industries should not flow into the rivers. He said that CETP plants should be operated at full capacity and their maintenance should be maintained in such a way that there is no leakage of polluted water.
Additional Chief Secretary Mines and Chairperson State Pollution Control Board Aparna Arora said that the polluted water in Jojri and other rivers of the region is being taken seriously by the Supreme Court. Anyway, due to the discharge of harmful chemical-laden water from industries into the rivers instead of CETP plants, the rivers are getting polluted and the industries are forced to take the unpleasant decision of closing them down.
Aparna Arora called for the disposal of polluted water in a scientific manner and to completely stop it from going into the rivers. He asked to adopt scientific techniques for disposal of polluted water with the participation of institutions including IITs. Additional Chief Secretary Water Resources Abhay Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary Industries and RIICO President Shikhar Aggarwal, Principal Secretary LSG Ravi Jain, RIICO Managing Director Suresh Ola, Jodhpur Collector Alok Ranjan along with Pali, Balotra Collector, Pollution Board and representatives of related departments and industry associations and CETP steering committees participated in the meeting.
