Is Toyota Innova Crysta going to be discontinued? Know the reason behind this step of the company

If you are thinking of buying a family car, Toyota Innova Crysta is definitely a name that comes to your mind. Over the years, this vehicle has been famous in India for its reliability, comfort and stellar performance. However, recently a big news related to this car has come out – a news which is very important for its fans. Actually, according to the news, the company is preparing to discontinue this model. According to a report by Autocar India, the soon-to-be-implemented CAFE 3 regulations in India could pose a lot of challenges for ladder-frame diesel vehicles. This is the main reason why the company can gradually remove this model from the market by 2027.

**It is now difficult to drive diesel vehicles

Toyota is planning to remove Innova Crysta from the Indian market in the coming time. The main reason for this decision is said to be the implementation of new CAFE rules, due to which it is becoming increasingly difficult to drive old diesel vehicles.

Basically, the Innova Crysta is a conventional diesel MPV, known for its rugged design and long range capability. However, now the automobile industry is rapidly moving towards hybrid and electric technology. As a result, the company is now shifting its focus from older models to newer and more fuel-efficient vehicles.

When the Innova Hycross was first launched, Toyota had stopped production of the Crysta for some time; But due to semiconductor shortage and long waiting time for Hycross, Crysta was later relaunched. It is worth noting that upon re-launch, the Crysta was offered only with a diesel engine and manual gearbox. The option of automatic transmission was deliberately not offered, so as not to have any adverse effect on the sales of Hycross.

**What after Crysta?**

Now the question arises: Which car will replace Crysta? The answer is Toyota Innova Hycross. The company has already launched this new model in the market, in which hybrid technology has been used. This means that the vehicle runs on a combination of petrol engine and electric motor, giving it better fuel efficiency and also reducing pollution. Apart from this, the company can also launch another affordable (cheaper) version of Hycross in the market, in which some features can be reduced to keep the price low. The idea is to provide an affordable alternative to those who have previously purchased the Crysta.
