Hazaribagh. The police of Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand have exposed a big gang of cyber criminals. A total of nine members of the gang were arrested during a raid conducted on Wednesday in Vinoba Bhave Nagar of the city. It is alleged that these people were cheating people online in the name of providing Mudra loans by creating a fake institution. Of the nine cyber thugs caught, six are residents of Telangana state. After receiving the complaint in this regard, Superintendent of Police Anjani Anjan, taking the matter seriously, had formed a special team under the leadership of Sub-Divisional Police Officer Amit Kumar. This team conducted raids on the basis of technical evidence and secret information and arrested the accused. Police have recovered a four-wheeler, 27 mobile phones, a large number of SIM cards, registers, identity documents and other incriminating materials from the accused. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused used to deceive people by using different SIM cards and mobile phones and in the name of getting the loan approved, they used to extort money in the form of processing fees, registration charges and other items.
The arrested accused have been identified as Shivanand Singh, Nanavat Mahesh, Sachin Kumar, Banavat Pawan, Akhil Rathore, Kodavat Sachin, Sarangi Vishnu, Naka Shiva and complainant Ansari. According to the police, all these accused are from other states and were carrying out cyber fraud activities for a long time by setting up a base in Hazaribagh.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sadar Amit Anand said that an FIR has been registered in this matter under relevant sections at Korra police station. Police are interrogating the accused and gathering information about other members of the gang and the accounts and transactions related to their network. It is also being ascertained how many people have been made victims of this gang so far.
The police have appealed to the general public not to fall prey to phone calls, links or documents in the name of any type of loan or government scheme. Report suspicious activities immediately to the police or cyber helpline.
