Jodhpur, 20 September (). Union Minister of State for Agriculture Bhagirath Chaudhary on Saturday visited the Central Dry Region Research Institute (Kajri) of Jodhpur. During this time he observed items made from millet and other foods.
Talking to the media in Kajri, he said that many innovations have been made since the establishment of the institute, but more research is still required.
He stressed that research on new crop varieties is necessary in the era of climate change so that farming can be made more beneficial and farmers can become prosperous.
Chaudhary said, “Kajri has done remarkable work in many areas, but we are not satisfied. We want more research, especially on crops that are beneficial for farmers in the changing season.”
On the question of the problems being faced by the farmers due to the online process of Girdawari, the minister said that Girdawari is happening both online and offline.
He informed that the patwaris have been instructed to complete Girdawari as soon as possible. Also, farmers have been given the facility of online Girdawari. Many farmers are not yet fully aware of this process, but the government is constantly trying for their awareness and convenience.
On the news of the movement on the minimum support price (MSP) by some farmers, Bhagirath Chaudhary said that a lot has been done for the farmers under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said that since 2024, MSP has been increased and farmers have been given the facility to choose which crop is beneficial for them. In the third term of the Prime Minister, MSP has been increased on every kharif and rabi crops. This is the first time. We used to increase the MSP earlier and will further extend it. But what the opposition did for the farmers should be asked.
On the question of welfare of farmers and innovation in farming, he said that the farmer of India fills the country and it is less to help them. From May 29 to June 12, ‘Developed Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ was conducted, in which a dialogue with farmers was established. We consider farmers as scientists. Learning from their experiences and working with scientists on new innovation. The government is committed to the prosperity of the farmers and is continuously working in their interest.
