Bengaluru, October 15 (). Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council C. Narayanaswamy commented on the problem of potholes in Bengaluru city. He questioned the Congress-led government as to where the Rs 750 crore released for filling potholes in Bengaluru had gone.

Speaking at Jagannath Bhavan, the BJP state office in Bengaluru, he criticized the state government, saying it had failed to address the issues of floods, drought and pothole-ridden roads.

He said that despite heavy rains and floods in many parts of the state, the Congress government is not worried.

“BJP state president, I, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly R. Ashok, BJP MLC CT Ravi and several other leaders went to the flood-affected areas in two teams. It was only after our visit that the Chief Minister made some announcements by plane. But those announcements never reached the people,” he alleged.

He said that people have come out on the streets in Kalaburagi, Chikkodi and Vijayapura areas to protest against the Congress government.

He said that there is drought situation in districts like Chikballapur, Chitradurga, Tumkuru and Kolar, but the government has not shown any concern.

He said, “The government has now started claiming that if the BJP had worked properly, there would have been no potholes on the roads. It has been two and a half years since we left power, but even now the Congress feels that it is our government that is in power.”

He asked, “Despite many industrialists writing letters to the government, they did not care about it. There were potholes during BJP’s tenure, but we filled them. Today the government claims that it has spent Rs 750 crore on repairing the potholes. If so, where did the money go? In whose pocket did it go? Why are the potholes still there?”
