Roopwas (Bharatpur). There has been huge public anger in the area after the administrative decision to suspend Anita Kumari (Meena), Executive Officer (EO) of Bayana Municipality of Bharatpur district. Describing this suspension as a politically motivated action taken on the complaint of local Bayana MLA Dr. Ritu Banawat, the people of Kushwaha community of the area including Rupwas town staged a fierce protest on Saturday by burning the effigy of the MLA. The agitators have bluntly warned the government and administration that if the executive officer is not reinstated by Monday, the railway tracks and highways will be completely stalled by blocking roads in the area from Tuesday. On Saturday afternoon, a large number of Kushwaha community and local citizens gathered at Mahadev Chowk in Rupwas town. The angry protesters raised slogans against local independent MLA Dr. Ritu Banawat and burnt his effigy. Social leaders leading the protest made several serious allegations against the MLA including unnecessary interference in administrative work, taking malicious action and corruption. Ultimatum to block rail and road routes: During the protest, representatives of the society issued an ultimatum to the administrative officials saying that unilateral action has been taken against EO Anita Kumari without any concrete basis, which will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Warning of agitation: The protesters said, “The administration has time till Monday. If the executive officer is not reinstated with respect by withdrawing the suspension order by Monday evening, then the main roads (highways) and railway tracks of the entire area will be blocked from Tuesday morning. The entire responsibility of any law and order situation arising out of this fierce chakka jam and agitation will be of the local administration and government.”
These prominent people were involved in the protest: During the burning of the effigy of the MLA and the protest, state convenor of Kushwaha community Vasudev Kushwaha, Badan Singh Kushwaha, Shailendra Kushwaha, Pappu Kushwaha, Ramswaroop Kushwaha, Sarvesh Kushwaha, Vijay Kushwaha and Manoj Gautam, along with a large number of youth of the society, enlightened citizens and dignitaries of the area were present.
Administrative stir intensifies: After this fierce agitation and direct warning of jamming the railway track, Bharatpur district administration and police department have come on full alert mode. Intelligence agencies and the local police station are constantly monitoring the matter to prevent the situation from getting out of control.
