Last phase of Naxalism, tribal areas joined with mainstream: Tarun Chugh

New Delhi, March 31 (). BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chaghu has justified Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement on Naxalism. Taking a jibe at the Congress, he said that during its rule for decades, the tribal areas were burning in the fire of Naxalism, but in the BJP’s state itself, Naxalism is coming to an end there.

BJP national general secretary Tarun Chaghu, while speaking to , said that during the Congress governments, not only were these areas kept away from development, but the security arrangements also remained weak. He alleged that Naxalism got a chance to flourish during the tenure of Congress, due to which violence and instability continued in the tribal areas, due to which they continued to benefit from it. If Congress wanted, it could have ended it earlier, but it did not.

Praising the Bharatiya Janata Party government at the Centre, Tarun Chugh said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, effective work has been done on both security and development fronts. He said that the government increased infrastructure, education, health and employment opportunities in Naxal-affected areas, thereby connecting these areas with the national mainstream.

Chugh claimed that today Naxalism is in its last stages and this is a proof of the success of the government’s policies. According to him, the strict security strategy and developmental approach of the Central Government has weakened Naxalite activities to a great extent.

Taking aim at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, BJP national general secretary Tarun Chaghu said his politics is based on spreading “fear and confusion”. Calling Rahul Gandhi the “king of lies”, he alleged that he tries to make the country look weak and constantly makes misleading statements.

Tarun Chaghu also said that the reality is the opposite and today India has emerged stronger and more self-reliant than before. He stressed that the Modi government has given priority to development along with strengthening the internal security of the country.

After this statement, the political debate on the issue of Naxalism and development is likely to intensify once again, in which the ruling party is counting its achievements, while the opposition may challenge these claims.
