Lucknow. The city of Nawabs is soon going to add another tourist attraction to the identity of Lucknow. A state-of-the-art tourist cruise is going to start operating in the Gomti River, in which 200 people will be able to enjoy the river tour simultaneously. At the same time, this cruise equipped with facilities like conference hall, VIP lounge, digital screen and open restaurant will give a new identity to the Gomti River Front. Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) Vice Chairman Prathamesh Kumar on Sunday inspected the site of the cruise project under construction in the river front area near Hanuman Setu and reviewed the progress. He directed that the construction work of the cruise should be completed within five months and operations should be started. The Vice President said that Kolkata based company M/s Balaji Sales and Purnima Enterprises have been selected through the RFP invited for operating the tourist cruise in the Gomti River. The company has started construction work on the river front near Hanuman Setu. The company itself will bear the entire expense of this cruise, which will be built at a cost of approximately Rs 16 crore.
In return, the company will give Rs 16 lakh every year as revenue to LDA. Prathamesh Kumar told that the length of the cruise will be 45 meters and width will be 10 meters. It will be operated between Hanuman Setu to Gomti Barrage, in which one round will be completed in 30 to 45 minutes. The basement of the cruise will have the facility of a modern conference hall, VIP lounge and digital screens, while an open restaurant will be built in the upper part. A ticket of Rs 300 per person is proposed for the cruise tour, while separate fees will be charged for facilities like lunch, dinner and buffet.
Five marine crew members including the captain will be deployed on the tourist cruise. During the ride, passengers will be informed about the cruise’s features and operations through a public address system. Especially children will be provided interesting information related to marine life. Apart from this, there will also be arrangements for recreational activities for children and youth. The Vice President said that once the cruise starts operating, it will not only give new heights to Lucknow’s tourism but will also establish the Gomti River Front as a major attraction of the city.
