Maihar. Three laborers lost their lives in a horrific road accident near Gujra toll plaza in Maihar district of Madhya Pradesh. All three people riding a speeding motorcycle collided badly with a tractor-trolley parked on the roadside near the Indian Gas Agency under Mukundpur police post in the district. The collision was so strong that the motorcycle was badly damaged. All the bike riders fell on the road and died on the spot. Police officials said that the deceased have been identified as Ankit Sodhia, Deepak Kol and Nagendra Kol. All three were residents of Jamnagaon. He was returning home after working as a laborer in Rewa, when the accident occurred on Bela-Govindgarh Road near Gujra Petrol Pump. In the initial investigation of the police, high speed and possible negligence have been cited as the main reasons for the accident. Officials are also investigating whether the bikers were drunk.
As soon as information about the accident was received, Tala Police Station officials along with their team immediately reached the spot. Necessary formalities were completed after taking possession of the dead bodies and they were sent to Amarpatan Hospital for post-mortem.
Police are investigating why the tractor-trolley was parked on the highway without adequate warning red reflectors. Locals have also expressed increasing frustration over heavy vehicles parked on roadsides at night, which often lead to fatal accidents due to poor visibility.
Villagers have urged the district administration to take strict measures, including mandatory reflective signs, lights or barriers for vehicles parked especially on busy roads. He has also urged the authorities to take immediate action as dense fog in winter increases problems for drivers.
