New Delhi, December 10 (IANS). Global software giant Microsoft has taken a big initiative in collaboration with the Indian government. Microsoft on Wednesday said it will launch AI-powered chatbots on government employment platforms in collaboration with the Ministry of Labor and Employment, which will provide necessary information to workers and simplify the processes.

Along with this, the software giant will also help in connecting its more than 15,000 companies and partners to the National Career Service (NCS) platform of India. With this, the people of the country will get more job opportunities.

This collaboration is considered a major step towards increasing employment opportunities, accelerating AI-based skilling and preparing India’s workforce for global opportunities. This will increase access to formal jobs, provide talent to emerging sectors, and enable India to create a strong, skilled workforce not only for domestic but also international demand. This will also strengthen the pathways to global mobility of Indian youth and professionals.

The e-Shram portal, which was launched in August 2021 for crores of unorganized workers after the Covid lockdown, is based on Microsoft Azure.

According to the company, this system can handle 1,72,000 transactions per second and has done up to 80 lakh registrations in a day. With the addition of AI chatbots, both the government and Microsoft believe that it will be easier than ever for workers to get information about benefit schemes, improve their skills and access suitable jobs.

Under the MoU, AI-based skilling initiatives will also be further promoted through DigiSaksham, which will provide training to lakhs of youth in future technologies like AI, cloud technology, cyber security and productivity tools. This will help in preparing the Indian workforce as per the global standards and new requirements of the industry.

Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya welcomed the partnership and said it reflects the shared aspiration to build a digitally skilled and future-ready workforce by leveraging India’s demographic dividend. He further said that Microsoft’s participation will accelerate job opportunities, improve skilling and strengthen India’s leadership in global labor mobility.

Dr. Mandaviya further added, “India has achieved a historic milestone in social protection—coverage has increased from 19 percent in 2015 to 64.3 percent by 2025, benefitting 94 crore citizens. With the use of AI in platforms like e-Shram and NCS, we are further strengthening social protection and moving closer to our target of covering 100 crore citizens by March 2026.” Are arriving.”

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also lauded the massive expansion of social security coverage in India and said India has benefited 94 crore people with 64.3 percent coverage. He particularly praised the e-Shram initiative, which has brought millions of unorganized workers under the social security net and strengthened India’s ability to make worker-centric policies based on real-time data.
