New Delhi. Efforts to bring back Indian citizens stranded in Doha to India have intensified. Amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, a Qatar Airways flight from Doha-New Delhi on Monday morning transported more than 300 passengers to India.
The Indian Embassy in Doha said additional flights, helplines and alternative travel routes are being arranged to help the stranded passengers in Qatar. Thanking Qatar Airways for its cooperation, the Indian Embassy said that in the last three days, about a thousand passengers stranded in Doha on transit or short-term travel have left for India on Qatar Airways flights. Additionally, Qatar Airways also facilitated the transportation of the mortal remains of an Indian national (died due to natural causes) to India and the travel arrangements for his family. We also thank the volunteers from the Indian community who assisted the family.
Sharing information, the Embassy said that Qatar Airways is planning to operate three flights to Delhi, Mumbai and Kochi on March 10. We appeal to stranded Indian passengers to use these flights to come to India. In the current circumstances, operation of flights is challenging and there may be sudden changes, hence passengers should remain in touch with the airline regarding their travel.
The embassy said that if one has a Saudi visa, the option of going to Saudi Arabia through Salwa Border Crossing is also available. Since the beginning of the conflict, many Indians have gone to Saudi Arabia and taken flights from there to India. The embassy is also helping stranded travelers in getting Saudi visas by taking up their cases.
The Embassy said that we are also trying our best to respond to the messages and emails received on the mail ID. It is also running a 24×7 helpline (number: +974-55647502, 55362508 or 55384683) on which passengers can get information. Apart from this, the helplines and helpdesks of Indian community organizations like ICC and ICBF are also actively supporting and helping the Indian community.
The Embassy said that the Indian community is advised to strictly follow the guidelines of the Ministry of Interior of Qatar for their safety. Use social media responsibly and do not take or share photos related to the current situation. Trust only information from trusted sources and avoid rumours.
